What to expect from a doctor-led telehealth consultation

A doctor-led telehealth consultation is a real appointment with an AHPRA-registered doctor, held by phone or video. At Mediflora, the doctor reviews your intake, asks about your history and goals, and writes an individualised care plan with you — with structured follow-up. No referral is required, and you can be seen from anywhere in Australia.
What is a "doctor-led" telehealth consultation?
"Doctor-led" means an AHPRA-registered doctor conducts your assessment — not an online questionnaire that you fill in alone. The doctor listens, asks questions, and makes clinical decisions with you.
What happens, step by step?
- Book and complete a short intake. You choose a time and answer a few questions so your doctor is prepared.
- Speak with your doctor. A full initial assessment by phone or video — your history, your goals, your questions.
- Get your care plan. Your doctor writes an individualised plan with you, documented in your patient portal.
- Structured follow-up. Scheduled reviews and a team that replies — continuity is built in, not bolted on.
Do I need a referral or special technology?
No GP referral is required to book with Mediflora. You'll need a phone, tablet or computer and a stable internet connection; you receive a secure link or call at your appointment time, with nothing to install. If you have a regular GP, your Mediflora doctor can — with your consent — share your care plan to keep them in the loop. General guidance on telehealth is available from healthdirect.
Is it private and secure?
Yes. Mediflora operates a privacy-first model under the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Your consultation and records are confidential. In line with AHPRA advertising rules, we do not publish patient testimonials or before/after content.
What does it cost?
- Initial consultation — A$29 (normally A$59) for a limited time.
- Follow-up consultation — A$29.
- Free Nurse Consultation if you'd like to talk first.
