How much does medication cost?
The cost of medications prescribed by our doctors at Mediflora depends on your specific condition and the treatment plan your doctor determines is best for you. Due to regulatory guidelines, we are unable to list medication prices on our website. However, the cost of prescribed treatments will be thoroughly discussed with you during your consultation.
After your consultation, you’ll be able to view the prescribed medications and their associated costs in your Mediflora patient portal under the “Prescriptions” section. From there, you can choose which medications to order online.
At Mediflora, we prioritize transparency. Rest assured, you’ll never pay additional dispensing fees, and we guarantee that you will never be charged more than the recommended retail price (RRP) for any medication, as part of our commitment to fair pricing and ethical practices.
Why doesn’t Mediflora provide “free” consultations?
At Mediflora, we believe in delivering the highest level of care through ethical prescribing practices, which is why we do not offer “free” or “cheap” consultations.
While many clinics offering free consultations may rely on nurses for detailed assessments, Mediflora ensures that all consultations are conducted by experienced, qualified doctors in dedicated 30-minute video sessions. This guarantees that you receive personalized care and expertise from professionals well-versed in natural medicine and managing chronic conditions.
We also do not provide free consultations because we are committed to agnostic prescribing, which means our doctors make recommendations based solely on what is best for your health, without any financial incentives to push specific products. This is crucial for ensuring that you receive treatments that are effective and tailored to your individual needs.
Some clinics offering free consultations may restrict your treatment options, often promoting cheaper, lower-quality compounded blends or specific brand names. At Mediflora, we prioritize the efficacy and quality of your treatment plan, ensuring that your health and well-being always come before profits.
Can I bulk bill Mediflora services through Medicare?
Unfortunately, Mediflora services are not currently eligible for Medicare rebates. Medicare provides rebates for telehealth consultations only if the patient has seen the doctor in person within the last 12 months. Due to the telehealth nature of our platform, we are unable to offer in-person consultations.
We hope that in the future, Medicare will adjust these rules, allowing us to offer rebates and help reduce treatment costs for our patients.
Can I claim Mediflora medication or services on my private health insurance?
Many Australian health insurers offer coverage for natural prescription medicines under certain conditions. Most insurers provide coverage for non-PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme) prescriptions through their Extras plans, depending on the specifics of your policy. Coverage amounts vary by insurer, typically covering a predetermined amount each year, with limits per prescription.
To make a claim, insurers generally require specific documentation, such as:- A pharmacy receipt with the pharmacy ABN and pharmacist details
- Information on the prescribed medicine, including the prescriber’s details and provider number
- Proof of payment for the medication
